Jesus Sings To Us
My wife and I are on vacation this week and as you read this I am out of the country. We will be enjoying the beauty of God’s creation as we visit, explore, hike and enjoy a Rocky Mountain high in the Canadian Rockies of Whistler Canada.
In lieu of writing my normal 4thdayletter I wrote this before leaving to share a special song with you. My daughter Katie is getting married to a wonderful man, Brock, in February of 2014. Preparations are well under way and one of those preparations was the process of picking out the songs for both the wedding itself and also the songs for the DJ to play at the reception.
One of the songs we discussed playing was John Denver’s song FOLLOW ME. The song writers were: Jana Valdevit, Edi Ramic, and Marco Zangirolami. If you have been reading these Forth Day Letters for any length of time you know I like John’s music. This particular song is a beautiful song for either the wedding or the reception. But as I listened to the song this time I heard something new. This time, I realized this song could be Jesus Himself singing these words to us.
Let me encourage you to go online to iTunes and download this song so that you can periodically listen to it and remember how much Christ longs for us to be with Him. Put this song on your smart phone, if you have one, and in a time when you need a spiritual pick up, listen to it again. You can click this link to listen to this beautiful song now and watch the YouTube video.
I have previously written about following Jesus in my 4thdayletter call FOLLOWSHIP. This song takes what I previously wrote about and makes it a love song from Jesus to us.
Now imagine Jesus singing these words, as you contemplate these thoughts. In the song we hear Jesus tell us that long before we were born, He gave his life for us. Jesus calls us to follow Him, He wants to dwell in us, and to be a part of us, and lead us. Jesus has always wanted to spend time with us, He is patient even if we wander away. He wants to be alone with us in silence, and let us know how much He loves us. Are we willing to let Him lead the way? Jesus came to us from the Father and is again now with the Father and He longs for us to spend eternity with the Father. Through all of life’s ups and downs, no matter what cross in life we might have to carry, He wants us to walk the path with Him. Will we take His hand today?
Follow Me
It’s by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done
To be so in love with you and so alone
Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me
Follow me up and down all the way and all around
Take my hand and say you’ll follow me
It’s long been on my mind
You know it’s been a long, long time
I’ve tried to find the way that I can make you understand
The way I feel about you and just how much I need you
To be there where I can talk to you
When there’s no one else around
Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me
Follow me up and down all the way and all around
Take my hand and say you’ll follow me
You see I’d like to share my life with you
And show you things I’ve seen
Places that I’m going to places where I’ve been
To have you there beside me and never be alone
And all the time that you’re with me
We will be at home
Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me
Follow me up and down all the way
Take my hand and I will follow you
